BUSINESS TIP OF THE MONTH

Time to prepare those new storage envelopes for the upcoming year. The holidays will be here before you know it, and you will be too busy to think about your business records. In less than a half hour, you can grab 12 large manila envelopes and label each month for 2009 on the outside. You will be set for keeping receipts and statements for the upcoming year! Keep them stored in a file cabinet or hanging file for easy access.

ORGANIZATIONS-PERSONAL TIDBITS

It's a brand new year and I'm excited to see what this year will bring. Many of us have decided not to participate in the recession, while others are letting the fear we are being fed by the media get to us. A recent economic forecast for our area put us beginning a recovery as early as May-so it all depends on whom you listen to! I firmly believe that if we remain optimistic and work together in an economic downturn, we will not only survive, we will thrive, and thus be in a stronger position to grow when the economy regains ground. I realize that maintaining that mindset is not easy at times like this, however with a combination of prudence and creativity in our businesses, we can survive anything.

Keeping focused on your bottom line is an important key to success in this economic climate, so make sure you know what you are spending on now, and plan for your 2009 expenditures! There have been a number of changes in tax law (and there may be more coming with the economic stimulus) so make sure you work with your CPA to develop a strategy for growth in the coming year.

GROWING MY BUSINESS

This month, I am seeking payroll clients. I can provide weekly, semiweekly, and periodic payroll for those companies who have between 1 and 20 employees.

VIRTUAL JEANNIE VIRTUAL SPOTLIGHT

This month's spotlight is on Al Lustig who owns Al Lustig remodeling. Al has been a client of mine for many years and is a really down-to-earth fun type of guy!

ABOUT

Al Lustig Remodeling has been a licensed and insured home improvement company serving Sonoma County, CA since 1987. We are called upon to do relatively small projects, where we have direct interaction with homeowners who trust us to be respectful of their property, family dynamics, pets, and treasures.

The contractor is consistently on the job providing availability and responsiveness to a homeowner's concerns. Any construction outfit can send in a crew and bang out a job; however, our perspective of the work place is different. As seasoned professionals, we can address challenging conditions that are often inherent in even the smallest job. Performing tasks is only one of many considerations that we feel is important to sustain satisfied customers.

SEEKING

The jobs we seek are kitchen and bath remodels, modifications for the physically challenged, decks, garage makeovers, home offices, lighting, electrical, additions, siding or window replacements, structural, and cosmetic repairs.

As consultants, we can assist handy homeowners in a do-it-yourself project and can initiate an appropriate design and engineering team tailored to the intensity of the project.

Addressing the present financial climate, we have expanded our availability to include "handyman jobs" fashioned with professional expertise, attitude, and conservative pricing.

RAVES

Here is how past customers have described our team:

"Fine craftsmen that show pride in their work."
"They maintain a commitment to be on the job as scheduled and on budget."
Others have praised us for our naturally happy attitude, open communication, creativity, cleanliness, conscientiousness, cost-effective suggestions, and use of "green" building materials when appropriate.
